Tour of the downtown, school, where Josef Rot, the famous Austrian writer, went to school, remains of the old Jewish synagogue and cemetery (ca. 20.000 burials). The town of Drohobych is famous for its unique wooden church of St. George of the 16th c., Rynok (Market) Square, the Holy Trinity cathedral, St. Bartholomew church and the remains of one of the oldest synagogues in Europe. The town is connected with the name of the classic of the Ukrainian literature Ivan Franko and the “Galician Kafka” – Bruno Shultz, who lived there.
Zhovkva is a town located 30 km (18 miles) far from the city of Lviv. It is a quaint beautiful Renaissance architecture town. Visit the St. Laurence cathedral, Nativity church with the Basilian monastery, Stt. Peter and Paul church with the relicts of St. Barbara the martyr, sinagogue, the synagogue, unique of the kind, the castle with its fortifications. Old St. Nicolas monastery of Greek Catholic Church is located in the marvelous forest of Yavoriv national park upon the caves and water-source. Holy Theotokos’ Assumption Pochaiv Lavra monastery in one of the most known pilgrimage centers and most popular sanctuary of the Eastern Orthodox Church in Europe. Ancient with the imperishable relicts of Stt. Job and Amfilohiy of Pochaiv is place of day&night prayer and work of hundreds monks and thousands lay-Christians. Rich barokko churches here eye-witnesses of bloody-way of Christianity confessing in last centuries.
Upon a gigantic nature rock, fortress Tustan (in Carpathian dialect “Tu-stan” means “Here-stay”) was a watchtower on the trade-way from China to Portugal over the Carpathian mountains. On the territory of historical-cultural preserve in village Urych (Skole area) you could visit a museum of this memorial. Tourists always compare with a thought-diving this fabulous place of the silent Carpathian mountain world.
Travel will give you a general flavour of different types of defence buildings of our forefathers since the medieval times. We will visit the old town Zvenygorod, well known from the ancient chronicles. Actually, it was the most high-powered fortress of Old Rus. In addition, we could see a staggering fortress in Stare Selo. It is a real impressible walk through the Svirzh castle, which is well known from popular films about the heros of the sword. Cute mountains’ nature of Dovbush Rocks is very close to Tysiv village. Just here the prominent opera singer Solomia Krushelnytska was cherished since the young years.
