Ukrainian Carpathians

Day 1
Arrive in Lviv. Hotel check-in. Guided sightseeing tour of the city to visit St. George cathedral from the 18th c., Lviv University complexes, Lychakiv cemetery – the Ukrainian pantheon, one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Europe that actually looks more like a sculptural garden and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city from the High Castle Hill. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2
9:00 am – walking tour of medieval Lviv. You begin in the main square, the Rynok (Market) square with Renaissance facades from the 16th c., Town Hall building, fountains, the late 16th c. Ukrainian orthodox church, the largely Gothic Roman-Catholic cathedral, the ancient Armenian cathedral with parts dating back to the 14th c. 01:00 pm – lunch break. 02:30 pm – visit to the Museum of Folk Architecture “Shevchenko Hay’. 05:15 – visit to the renown Lviv Opera House.

Day 3
Depart for the city of Ivano-Frankivsk – the gate to the Ukrainian Carpathians. City tour. After lunch depart for the town of Kolomyya, a center of the Hutsul art (the hutsuls are one of the ethnic residential groups who live in the Carpathians). Visit to the museum of the Hutsul People and the Easter Egg Museum.

Day 4
This day you keep on exploring the Carpathians. Visit to the hutsul town of Kosiv. It is here where they produce famous hutsul ceramics and wood carvings. While getting to the next site enjoy the ride thru the highest Ukrainian Carpathians spine – Chornohora (‘Black Mountain’). In the village of Verkhovyna visit to the museum of hutsul music instruments. Arrive in Yaremche, a famous resort in the Carpathian mountains.

Day 5
This day we offer you to take a lift to enjoy the view of Chornohora spine from one of the picks (Vorokhta, Bukovel). Then visit to the town of Rakhiv, the geographical center of Europe and the area of so called Carpathian Alps. Return to Yaremche. Dinner in “Hutsulshchyna” restaurant.

Day 6
Exploring another part of the Ukrainian Carpathians – Boykivshchyna. You keep on driving via the town of Dolyna to the lake Synevyr, the Carpathian Eye. Late arrive in Mukachevo. Hotel check-in.

Day 7
This day you will trip the area called Zakarpattya (Transcarpathia). City tour of the town of Uzhhorod (the local castle, the Museum Folk Architecture, Nevytskyy castle). Return to Mukachevo. Exploring the Palanok castle.

Day 8
On the way back to Halychyna visit to the palace of count Schonburn in the town of Chynadiyevo. Then another site – the town of Drohobych, local Galician Pennsylvania.

Day 9
Catching the last minute shopping or walking down the streets of Lviv. Depart for homeland.
